Jesus Is… (Part 4)
Speaker: Pastor Barbara
Scripture: Hebrews 4:1-11

For the past few weeks, the underlying theme for the writer of Hebrews has been a warning. He’s warning the people not to put Jesus below the angels, or as we saw last week, he quoted from the Old Testament, using Moses and the people of Israel as an example of how it’s possible to miss out on all that God has for us. If we hold fast to Jesus, we can enter into a special place of rest that God has prepared for us.

    Jesus Is…(Part 3)
    Speaker: Pastor Barbara
    Scripture: Hebrews 2

Jesus is Lord. He is the Savior of the world! He is bigger and better than any angel. He is the only One who can give you forgiveness of your sins and grant you salvation, and eternity with God!

    Jesus Is… (Part 2)
    Speaker: Pastor Barbara
    Scripture: Hebrews 1:5-14

We’re now in week 2 of our search through the book of Hebrews. Our overarching theme and title of the series is . . . JESUS IS! That’s the hope of this series as we discover more and more of who Jesus is in our lives and what that means for us so that we don’t have distorted views of who God is.

    Jesus Is… (Part 1)
    Speaker: Pastor Barbara
    Scripture: Hebrews 1:1-14

Over the next several weeks I want to look through the book of Hebrews at who Jesus is. I want you to leave our class with a firm belief that Jesus is not some cosmic creation. He isn’t some after thought. Jesus has always existed. We cannot explain it, other than to believe this is who God is.

    God’s Grace and Holiness
    Speaker: Pastor Barbara
    Scripture: 1 Peter 1:6-16

We will live a life that taps into God’s free flowing grace, not only in our time of need, but for others who need God’s grace in their time of need. That is why we must be holy. God’s grace flows through holy vessels if He is going to reach the lost in this world. I want to be a vessel He uses, what about you?

But For the Grace of God (Part 2)
    Speaker: Pastor Barbara
    Scripture: Hebrews 4:16 (NIV)

Our past is a tool that Satan uses against us time and time again. And he doesn’t bring up the good stuff. Oh no! He’s only throws in our faces what we did wrong. When he does that, we can go to our Father’s throne room of GRACE knowing that Satan is a liar and that our Father doesn’t remember our past. New Life, that’s God’s GRACE!

But For the Grace of God (Part 1)
    Speaker: Pastor Barbara
    Scripture: Ephesians 2:8 (AMP)

Grace, as used by Paul in particular as we will see shortly, underscores the fact that salvation is freely given by God to underserving sinners – which we were. And let me emphasize: we were sinners. When you read Paul’s letters, you see grace in several areas pertaining to our relationship with God.  These lessons will focus on the grace of God and how many misunderstand His grace.

Christianish—Submission and the Christianish (Part 4)
    Speaker: Pastor Barbara
    Scripture: Ephesians 5:15-21 (NLT)

Tonight we’re concluding this series… CHRISTIANISH. Now, maybe you’re thinking or hoping that there’s some complex theological meaning to the idea of submission as it’s presented in the New Testament that effectively pulls its teeth…but there’s not. When you see the words submit, submitting, and subject in the New Testament, chances are they mean to place in order under, to subordinate. And no matter how you slice it, that involves yielding your will to another.

Christianish—Sacrifice and the Christianish (Part 3)
    Speaker: Pastor Barbara
    Scripture: Matthew 10:37-39 (NLT)

Tonight we’re continuing this series… CHRISTIANISH. If following Jesus hasn’t cost you something, if it doesn’t cost you something, then maybe you’re not really following Jesus at all. Maybe you’re only Christianish. I say that because from the example of Jesus and all who followed Him in the New Testament, following Him calls for personal sacrifice. It’s what author Mark Steele called…The Painful Give...the sacrifice of that thing you love, you depend on, and trust in, more than you do Jesus.

Christianish—Sin and the Christianish (Part 2)
    Speaker: Pastor Barbara
    Scripture: Romans 1:28-32 (NLT)

Tonight we’re continuing this series… CHRISTIANISH by talking about something that I’m sure is going to prove to be uncomfortable and not popular; today we’re going to examine the subject of Sin and the Christianish.  The point is that things that are considered sin in a society may not be afforded the same treatment in the Bible. Likewise, things the Bible identifies as sin may not be considered sin by a society.
