The Importance of Forgiveness—The Attribute of Forgiveness (Part 2)—Linked via Facebook
Speaker: Pastor Barbara
Scripture: Philemon 1:1-7 (NIV)

Forgiveness is somewhat like a cool rain on a summer’s day. When we approach someone and especially God when we have wronged and sinned against them, seeking forgiveness, at first it is not the most comfortable place. But when forgiveness is bestowed upon us, it refreshes us.

For the next several weeks we are going to look at this subject of forgiveness by way of the New Testament book of Philemon. From this study we will look into the character, action and motivation of forgiveness. But before we jump into the study of this small book I want us to look at the Parts of Forgiveness ... the Principle, the Parable and the Personal parts of forgiveness.

    Scripture 2 Corinthians 6:10

As a child of God we have access to joy. That joy can be in abundance, or it can be what some describe as some joy based on my situation. In this case what they are describing is happiness. While the joy we have is not determined by our circumstances, how much joy we walk in is aligned to our relationship with Jesus Christ.

    Scripture: Psalms 32:1-5

Today we will focus solely on joy as it relates to forgiveness. Unforgiveness will directly impact the joy that we are supposed to have in our lives. This includes the unforgiveness that exists in our lives because of unrepentant (unconfessed) sins; and the unforgiveness that exists in our lives because we choose to not forgive others – which is also a sin.

    Scripture: Proverbs 17:22

Joy is not determined by our circumstances rather it is because of our relationship with Jesus Christ. So ask yourself, do you have joy because you’re victorious, or are you victorious because you have joy? For a child of God, joy is not the end game, it’s the whole game. We are victorious in life because we have joy through Christ regardless of the circumstances we are facing at any given time!

    Scripture: John 3:1-7 (AMP)

I wanted to end the series on Strongholds Beliefs with what it means to be Born Again because understanding who we are gives us the ability to conquer the thoughts and behaviors we see in the world and in the Church today. Without being born again, without having a nature that’s just like our Father’s, we are no different than the Gentiles, the non-believers, Jesus describes in Matthew 6:32 who are seeking the things needed in life.

Part 7 of this series examines the fall of mankind and how Satan is still using the same strategies (sin) today as he did in the Garden of Eden to separate mankind for our loving, heavenly Father.

Tonight’s lesson focuses on Satan, his rebellion and the creation of hell.  As we go through the scriptures you will discover that there are so called Christians who do not believe in hell and some are not even sure if God really exists.

    Stronghold Beliefs (Part 5)
    Speaker: Pastor Barbara
    Scripture: Romans 10:17 (NKJV)

So the fifth stronghold belief that all Christians should have is the belief that the Bible is the Word of God and is the proof source for how Christians should live. Now for clarity purposes, in a sales situation a proof source is a source separate and apart from the salesperson. A proof source is used in a sales presentation to substantiate selling points, benefits and/or claims made by the salesperson. In other words it is the separate source material that proves the statements made by the salesperson are indeed factual. If you are trying to sell the notion to people that you are a Christian then the Bible is the separate source that you would use to prove it. The Bible is the proof source for our lives – it will prove if we are truly walking with God and living according to Jesus’ commandments.
